Crucial Blend is a San Diego based band best known for their fusion of reggae, ska, hip-hop and punk. Formed in 2011, their energetic and frequent live performances quickly earned them recognition and a following in Ocean Beach. The band was founded by singer/guitarist Ryan Hughes who started the group by scouting local reggae musicians in the San Diego area. Throughout the years, Crucial Blend's lineup has evolved, but the core of their sound has always been defined by catchy melodies and infectious grooves that draw from the roots of reggae while embracing the raw energy of punk and hip-hop. Throughout the years they have released several studio albums, performed an incredible number of shows, done several tours and have been nominated 4x’s by the San Diego Music Awards. They have also shared the stage with such crowd favorites as Long Beach Dub Allstars,  HR of Bad Brains, Kyle Smith, Mickey Avalon, Ballyhoo, Bumpin' Uglies and more.
